Local Natives Revisit Dark Days
Local Natives have released a video for their reworking of "Dark Days." The song originally appeared on their 2016 album Sunlit Youth. This new version has guest vocals from Amelia Meath of Sylvan Esso, who wrote a new verse for the track.
Along with the civilised world I was horrified by the racist murder of George Floyd. This type of brutality needs to be confronted directly, with justice clearly seen to be done whenever and wherever it occurs. Our human rights organisation @witness_org has been helping groups monitoring police violence and they are all over this. At Real World, we all fully support Black Out Tuesday and I hope these protests will not only lead to the addressing of the problems at the root of this, but also encourage a worldwide look at how each country is dealing with racism and religious persecution within their own borders. Politicians are trying to win support by fuelling nationalism and racism for their own gain. If we don’t like the way things are going we have to speak out and act. The world can only be what we choose to make it. - pg #BlackLivesMatter #TheShowMustBePaused #BlackOutTuesday
Peter Gabriel has been an advocate for human rights for a very long time, and like so many people around the world, he was "horrified by the racist murder of George Floyd". Peter took to social media to share his thoughts, and to say that Witness, his human rights organization, is helping to monitor police violence.
