Hey HTZ Nation, it's Jonathon here, with another pup who is searching for a forever home. I have to say this is one great story of perserverance, and this is certainly a dog who is deserving of a home to call his own. From Niagara Dog Rescue, meet Smittey.

Smittey is a husky mix who weighs about 50lbs and is between 3 and 4 years old. He came in to the rescues care in incredibly rough shape with a broken jaw and after examination, he was found to have been shot in the face. He has since recovered and is pain free, although he does have a crooked smile which I think just adds to his charm.

Smittey is a pretty typical Husky mix, having a good temperment. He loves his attention, and is very gentle and loving. He gets along with other dogs and would do well with older children as he is still working on his manners and containing his excitement.

Due to his injury, Smittey will need a soft food diet for the rest of his life. He will also need to avoid rough chew toys and games like tug of war to avoid reinjuring his jaw. Thankfully, our friends at Vansickle Pet Valu and Lundy's Lane Pet Valu can help with their wide array of food options, and different toys and activities that Smittey can enjoy and burn off some energy with. If you adoptr Smittey, they'll hook you up with 15% off your first purchase as well a free bag of pet food, and free pet bath.

All around, Smittey seems like an incredible pup. He has beaten the odds and survived incredible pain and come out the otherside with a big heart and goofy smile.
