Young Grimsby athlete returns from Olympic talent search in Calgary
A 14-year-old athlete from Grimsby is now playing the waiting game.
Payton Tonnos will find out in early October if she is one of the top 30 athletes who will receive funding to pursue her sport at a national level.
She was one of a hundred young athletes at the RBC Canadian Olympic talent search in Calgary, where she completed a series of tests alongside athletes from all over the country.
Although she's much more familiar with rowing, Tonnos has caught the attention of Cycling Canada to potentially compete in the sport of track cycling.
A versatile athlete, Tonnos says she's taking the advice of her coaches to keep her options open and wait to see which sport offers the best opportunities for her long-term.
