21-year-old man charged with attempted murder after beating female roommate
A 21-year-old Kingston man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly beating his roommate.
Police said 21-year-old Thomas Neumann got into an argument with two of his roomates at about 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 29.
The male accused, male victim and female victim were all in their home on their Ontario street apartment. Neumann physically assaulted both roommates, using several weapons within the apartment to strike both the male and female, according to police.
While the female victim was on the floor, Neumann kicked and punched her with items found throughout the home. Police said the male roommate used his body to shield the female from repeated blows until he was able to pull her to safety and call police. Neumann threatened to kill both of his roommates during this assault, they added.
When police arrived at the scene, they discovered the female victim in severe distress and she was then transported to Kingston General Hospital in criticial condition with life-threatening injuries.
Neumann is facing multiple charges including attempted murder, assault with a weapon and uttering threats to cause death.
