The Royal Canadian Legion officially kicks off its 2020 poppy campaign on Friday.

With branches facing financial hardship across the country because of COVID-19 closures and restrictions, local branches are appealing for donations this year.

Poppies are available at a number of Kingston businesses and donations can also be made directly to the Limestone Branch 560 or other area Legions.

A pilot project has been introduced adding new touchless donation boxes this year in partnership with HSBC Bank Canada, with boxes available at most branches and some select retail locations.
