FRENCH MONTANA WANTS TO BE THE ‘FACE OF HOPE’ FOR IMMIGRANTS COMING TO AMERICA: French Montana has spoken with TMZ and revealed that he wants to be the “face of hope” for immigrants coming to America. He explained, “I want to be the perfect example for these young kids that come from Africa, that come from third world countries, that come from places that have no hope and all you have is faith. I want to be the face of that. We got to mold that and use this platform to broadcast whatever dreams everybody got.” He went on to say, “I just feel like I came from nothing and I was immigrated to this country. I would have never been 'French Montana' if I wasn't immigrated. I feel like there's a lot of French Montanas out there.” According to Complex, French was born and raised in Morocco before his family immigrated to the Bronx when he was 13 years old.
TRINA’S MOM PASSES AWAY FROM CANCER: Trina’s mom, Vernessa Taylor, has died at 62 after battling cancer. According to TMZ, a rep for the Miami rapper confirmed the news and said that the family has requested privacy. The rep said, “Thank you all for your kind words and condolences regarding Trina’s mother. It truly gives the family some peace and comfort knowing that 'Nessa' lived such a fulfilling life filled with love and abundance."
LIZZO CELEBRATES BILLBOARD NO. 1: Lizzo has earned her very-first No. 1 on the Billboard 100 chart with her record, “Truth Hurts.” According to Rap-Up, the record rose from the No. 3 stop thanks to her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards last month. Lizzo celebrated on Twitter, telling her fans, “WE’RE NUMBER 1. THIS IS A W FOR ALL OF US. ANYBODY WHO EVER FELT LIKE THEY VOICE WASN’T HEARD. ANYBODY WHO FELT LIKE THEY WEREN’T GOOD ENOUGH. YOU ARE. TAY-K’S REPS ASK FANS TO SEND LETTERS AND MONEY TO RAPPER IN JAIL: Tay-K’s reps are asking that the rapper’s fans send him letters, book and money while he is in jail. The rapper’s Twitter page posted a tweet saying, “SEND TAY LETTERS AND BOOKS. PUT MONEY ON HIS BOOKS WHILE HE’S IN SAN ANTONIO #RR4L Taymor Mcintyre #1085731 Bexar County Adult Detention Center 200 N Comal St San Antonio, TX, 78207.” Tay-K was recently convicted of murder and sentenced to 55 years in prison. His legal team, however, has appeared the conviction and the sentencing, and hopes to have both overturned.
