CARDI B, CHANCE THE RAPPER’S NETFLIX SHOW TO AIR AS THREE-WEEK EVENT: The 10-episode hip-hop competition series from Cardi B, Chance the Rapper and Tip “T.I.” Harris, Rhythm + Flow, will air over three weeks, starting on October 9th. Rhythm + Flow is the streamer’s first music competition series and is set to feature gurus like John Legend and Jeff Pollack help the hosting trio find new talent.
THE KING DIRECTOR SAYS HE CAST ROBERT PATTINSON FOR ‘RAZZLE-DAZZLE’: David Michod says he cast Robert Pattinson as the Prince of Franceto add "fun" and "razzle-dazzle" to his new Netflix film. The King, inspired by Shakespeare’s Henry V, premiered at the Venice Film Festival on Monday. It stars Timothée Chalamet as Hal, along with Joel Edgerton, Sean Harris, Ben Mendelsohn and Lily-Rose Depp.
THE JOKER GARNERS OSCAR BUZZ: Venice Film Festival director Alberto Barbera is loving Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix. The film premiered at Venice and received a delirious reception. He told Deadline: “The film deserves the reception it is getting. It goes beyond the boundaries of the genre. Joaquin Phoenix’s performance is outstanding and [director] Todd Phillips did a great job.” When asked if it could be in the running for an Oscar, possibly for Best Picture, he said: “Absolutely.”
UPCOMING KATE SPADE BIO HAS FAMILY NERVOUS? Fashion critic Vanessa Friedman is penning a biography of designer Kate Spade for Random House, Page Six reports. The biography of Spade, who died by suicide, is making her widower Andy Spade and others nervous, the paper reports. Andy and Kate had been separated for 10 months when she died; they share a 14-year-old daughter, Frances Beatrix.
