Kanye West Praises Republican Party For Freeing Slaves At Sunday Service

Kanye West recently held a Sunday Service in Utah, where he defended his support for President Donald Trump. According to Complex, Kanye reminded the crowd that it was a Republican president, Abraham Lincoln, who abolished slavery in the United States. He said, “Abraham Lincoln was the Whig Party—that's the Republican Party that freed the slaves. […] I ain’t never make a decision based only on my color. That’s a form of slavery — mental slavery. I ain’t drink from the white person fountain. ... I ain’t playing with them. All these mind controllers, the media, all of these mind controllers. I find that wherever Christ is where I’ve got my mind at. We find that the love of Christ is where I’ve got my mind back.” 

He also addressed social justice and criminal justice reform, highlighting how broken the system is in the U.S.

In other news, Kanye and Rick Fox are in talks with the Bahamian government to help those affected by Hurricane Dorian. According to a statement from the Bahamas Information Services, West and Fox visited the National Emergency Management Agency last week, where the spoke with officials about plans to assist the Bahamian reconstruction committee. The statement said, “[Kanye West and Rick Fox] met with John Michael Clarke of the reconstruction committee and Godfrey Rolle, Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ representative at NEMA.” 

According to TMZ, the relief efforts is especially important to Rick Fox, as his father is of Bahamian descent. The former NBA baller lived in the Bahamas when he was younger before he moved to the United States. Fox, who is also the president of the Bahamas Relief Foundation, has had a hand in helping to raise money for the Bahamas.
