Parker McCollum Ditched Plan B For A Music Career
Parker McCollum is breathing a sigh of relief that his debut single, "Pretty Heart," has become a big radio hit. He actually had another life plan for himself, but he tells us that he made the difficult decision to follow his love of music, and it's definitely paying off now.
Parker explains: "I wanted to go to law school and then try to run for governor one day. I had put out this little EP and I was driving over there to pick up the first box ever of CDs. I was in my truck and I was like, 'Man, what am I doing? Like I need to go get a real job and like I'm a fool for doing this,' and I called my dad and I was like, 'This is a bad idea. I gotta go back to school and go get my law degree and have like a real career,' and he was like, 'Whatever it is, you need to make your mind up right now and you need to stick with it,' and I was like, 'Alright, I'm not going to law school. I think I'll just keep playing guitar.'"
"Pretty Heart" is the first single off his upcoming debut album, however no details have yet been released.
Parker releases a new track called "Young Man's Blues" on Friday (August 14th), along with the video.
