Rick Ross Opens Up About Codeine Use
Rick Ross has revealed that his use of codeine has contributed to his seizures. During a recent interview with People magazine, the Miami rapper admitted that he used the drug to help with stress. Ross also said that he consumed large amounts of codeine.
He explained, “When I woke up in the hospital and I had so many people around me, so many homies, it felt like I was in V.I.P. or some sh*t. But it was more like ‘Damn, we gotta do some special things.’”
Ross then said that it was codeine that landed him in the hospital. He continued, “That mixed with the things I was drinking, the other drugs I was doing, and on top of not resting. [I don’t think] one particular thing would have killed me. But everything combined?”
The rapper blamed most recent hospitalization on him failing to follow his doctor’s orders. Ross said that he was prescribed medication, but he said, “I went I don’t know how long without taking the medication to prove to myself ‘I’m stronger than these other people this sh*t was diagnosed for.” He added, “I ended up back in the hospital in a worse condition.”
Ross has since started using his medication, stopped using codeine and made changes to his diet. He said, “I cut the sodas out and I drink a lot more water. That, adding in some vegetables and I get a lot more rest.”
