Rock Quick Hits: The Glorious Sons, Metallica & More!

  • To celebrate their latest era, The Glorious Sons put together a "counter culture" mix dedicated to their favorite rock n roll, mental and rap tracks. The mix includes songs from Jimi Hendrix, Tupac, Pantera, The Tragically Hip and more. Brett selected the first ten, while Jay rounded out the final tracks. (Billboard)


  • Classic Albums -- a British documentary series about pop, rock and heavy metal albums that are considered the best work of a well known band or musician, will air an episode focusing on Metallica's 1991 The Black Album. The episode on  will air on October 9th on AXS TV. (Blabbermouth)


  • Kiss will perform a special benefit show on a glass-bottomed boat off the Southern Coast of Australia next month. Ultimate Classic Rock reported, "Kiss and fans will set sail from Port Lincoln, Australia, on November 18th on The Shark Warrior, a glass-bottom boat that will allow passengers to see the sharks, who are reportedly drawn to low frequencies." All proceeds will benefit the Australian Marine Conservation Society. (Ultimate Classic Rock)
  • Alice in Chains vocalist and guitarist William DuVall has released a new single entitled "White Hot." The track is taken from DuVall's solo album One Alone, which is due out today (October 4th). In an interview with Antihero magazine, Duvall revealed that he opened up emotionally on One Alone. He explained, "It's almost like you could view it as like an emotional and a musical cleansing by fire, you know? It's sort of like when you've got to burn the earth so that the soil can renew itself, kind of thing. It's like it has a little bit of that feeling of like, yeah, we want to get really raw. And that way, it's sort of like all bets are off now." (Blabbermouth)
