System Of A Down drummer John Dolmayan is publishing his own comic book starting in April called Ascencia. A long-time comics fan, Dolmayan previewed the book for us: ["It’s about the choices one would make if given the opportunity to live in a place that keeps you immortal. Like, who would you betray? Who would you screw over? It would test your moral fiber and it tests who you are as a person, make you question everything about yourself. It's a sci-fi epic that I'm putting out as a monthly series. I'm self-publishing it, so I'm very proud of it."] SOUNDCUE (:24 OC: . . . proud of it.)

Dolmayan has been selling comics since the early 1990s, and is the owner of Torpedo Comics, a high-end shop with locations in Orange, California and Las Vegas, as well as an online store.

This past Friday (February 28th), Dolmayan released his solo debut, These Grey Men. The eight-song LP contains covers of tracks by such varied artists as Madonna, Radiohead, AFI, Eminem and David Bowie.

The disc features guest appearances from Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello and Avenged Sevenfold vocalist M. Shadows.

System Of A Down will play some shows this spring and summer but the band still shows no signs of recording new music anytime soon.
