Carnival Seeking Nominations for the Jessie Ferguson Award

For more than 60 years, Vernon Winter Carnival has celebrated all that is winter in the North Okanagan. At its heart, Carnival is all about celebrating community: the uniqueness, the people, and traditions in Vernon.

That is why, this year they are asking the community to nominate a person or organization who embodies the spirit of Vernon Winter Carnival for the Jessie Ferguson award.

This award has traditionally been handed out by the VWC board of directors to dedicated volunteers who have been directly involved with Carnival, but this year they have decided to open it up to the community.

"We know that there are so many amazing people in our community who, in their own way, have supported Carnival over the years. This might be an organization's long-standing and continued participation in an annual event, participation in the parade, or an individual who gives their talent and time to support events year over year," said Executive Director vicki Proulx.

Criteria for nominations include those who have been dedicated to Vernon Winter Carnival and has supported it's events, and/or volunteered

Nominations can be submitted online at vernonwintercarnival.com or dropped off at the Vernon Winter Carnival Office – 2401 35 Ave.

Deadline for nominations is Sunday Jan 24, 2021.

Recipient will be announced during Vernon Winter Carnival Feb 5-14, 2021.
