Bernard Avenue closing to vehicle traffic just days away
In a few days, there will be no vehicle traffic on Bernard Avenue in Kelowna. Instead there will be a walkway right down the middle of the street.
And patios and businesses can expand into parking areas. Hopefully attracting more foot traffic to the area.
Kelowna City Council approved the move May 25th.
Executive Director for the Downtown Kelowna Association Mark Burley says he is asked a lot about accessible parking and temporary pick up spots.
"That's going to continue, even during the closure," Burley says.
The temporary spots will move to the Intersections at Water and Bernard, Pandosy and Bernard and at the end of the Mill Street Closure.
Accessible parking will move to those areas as well.
No vehicle traffic on Bernard is in affect from June 29 to September 8.
