Updated: Firefighters battle barn fire

barn fire

Firefighters put out a barn fire on a property in the 1800 block of McKinley Road, north of the city.

Several fire units were dispatched to the scene yesterday, December 7, shortly before 4:00 pm.

First responding firefighters found the 30' x 60' barn fully involved in fire.

There were some ducks and geese in the barn but it appears they all made it out safely.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but it is not suspicious. Firefighters believe it may have started from a heat lamp in the barn.

McKinely Road was closed both ways for more than an hour as firefighters put out the blaze.
