Kelowna's Little Owl Academy Wins Award
Every year the province hands out Child Care Awards of Excellence to child care providers around the province.
This year there were 66 nominations and 7 award winners. Kelowna's Little Owl Academy is one of them. Theirs for a special program involving a puppy named Sandy.
Owner Amanda Worms says they work with the Pacific Assistance Dog Society and Sandy is being trained in the classroom. She says it's great for the kids as they learn about pet care as well as service dogs.
Sandy will be helping with crossing a street, picking things up and how to retrieve things for the child that needs assistance. Little Owl has children who will require a service dog in future.
The Little Owl Academy staff are also certified in BrainGym, an exercise program that helps shed excess energy and promote learning, Rainbow Kids Yoga and American Sign Language.
The Academy has two locations in the Kelowna area, Kettle Valley in the Upper Mission and in Glenmore.
