Police incident in West Kelowna
Just after 10:40 am Tuesday, West Kelowna RCMP were involved in an ongoing police investigation when they attempted to stop a motor vehicle on Glenrosa Road. The vehicle failed to stop for police and was last seen driving at a high rate of speed from that location.
A short time later, frontline members located the vehicle unoccupied and with the support of the RCMP Air Services and the Police Dog Services, a track was established and police saturated the area.
In order to ensure public safety, police closed a portion of the roadway and notified several businesses including a local school during the unfolding police incident. The incident was not related to the school and notification was only precautionary in nature.
The investigation remains active at this time however the West Kelowna RCMP have since reopened Glenrosa Road and have established there is no current threat to the public. All businesses and schools that were affected by this incident due to the close proximity of the unfolding event, have since reopened and can resume their daily activities.
“The West Kelowna RCMP wish to extend their thanks to all those who were impacted, for their patience, understanding and full cooperation during the temporary road and business closures.” adds Cst. Lesley Smith.
The West Kelowna RCMP are continuing their initial investigation as this is an ongoing investigation.
