UPDATED: Power Outage in Kelowna

UPDATED: Power has been restored to the majority of Kelowna customers but approximately 1,600 remain in the dark.

FortisBC officials say an SUV slammed into a transmission pole that connected multiple sub-stations.

Officials supported RCMP as they assessed the scene.

FortisBC has rerouted power while they work to repair the damaged transmission line.

Crews continue to work to restore power to the rest of Kelowna customers.

FortisBC is currently working to restore power to a possible 10,000 people in Kelowna.

The disruption was caused by a car that crashed into a hydro pole on Springfield Rd.

The outage map shows customers have been restored in the Pandosy area but power remains out near Orchard Park Mall.

Some traffic lights are out around the City and confirmed at Gorndon Dr and Harvey Ave.
