The Art Gallery of Windsor is kicking off its fall programming with a focus on Inuit art.

The exhibition from Newfoundland is a first of its kind highlighting the art of the Labrador Inuit.

Curator Chris Finn says the exhibit fits in nicely with the gallery's other offerings.

"The art gallery is committed to showing diversity of art works and we have brought out works from our collection that reflect the creations of other artists from the arctic, but also, this is the first major exhibition featuring these artists."

He says the goal is to shed some light on some unique works.

"This exhibition is one of those steps to show inter-generational practices amongst the artists and also to raise the profile and the Art Gallery of Windsor felt that this was the type of exhibition that we wanted to be involved in. So we did take the show."
