Flood Warning Issued for Point Pelee Drive in Leamington
A flood warning has been issued for Point Pelee Drive in Leamington.
The Essex Region Conservation Authority issued the warning due to elevated water levels and winds that could hit 40 km/hr Sunday.
An area of Point Pelee Drive between Sturgeon Creek Bridge and Point Pelee National Park will be the hardest hit, according to ERCA.
The authority is asking the public to avoid the area and obey any road closure signs posted due to escalating conditions.
A flood watch continues for the remainder of the Lake Erie shoreline including the west and south shorelines of Pelee Island.
Residents should stay away from rivers, streams and shorelines due to fast moving water and crashing waves.
Both the flood watch and warning remain in effect until Monday.
