Flood Watch Issued for Lake Erie Shoreline

The Essex Region Conservation Authority has issued a flood for the Lake Erie shoreline and parts of Pelee Island.

The authority says there's the potential for problems along the shoreline west of Point Pelee National Park and the west and south shorelines of Pelee Island given high water levels and predicted southwest winds to 50 km/hr Tuesday night and through the day Wednesday.

There could be near shore erosion with waves overtopping breakwalls, splashing and spray.  ERCA says waves overtopping breakwalls have the potential to transport rocks and debris onto adjacent lands.

According to an authority release, in the area of direct wave attack, there is the potential for breakwall and shoreline structure damage.
