VIDEO: Kusmierczyk to Lead the Liberals in Windsor-Tecumseh

The Liberals have their candidate in Windsor-Tecumseh.

Irek Kusmierczyk will represent the party in next month's federal election.

He beat out Jeewan Gill and Linda McCurdy, Tuesday night at the riding's nomination meeting.

Kusmierczyk says it's an incredible feeling to represent the Liberal party in Windsor-Tecumseh.

"This has been a hard fought nomination campaign," says Kusmierczyk.  "We left everything on the table and now we're literally going to turn this around and start campaigning."

Kusmierczyk says it's going to be a tough fight.

"We're going to enter this fight but we're feeling great" says Kusmierczyk.  There's a groundswell of support that we're feeling across Windsor-Tecumseh.  People are coming out that haven't voted, we got folks from all sides of the aisle coming out and there's a groundswell, there's an appetite for change and that's what we tapped into."

Kusmierczyk says he will forfeit his pay as a city councillor during the campaign.

756 ballots were cast with four spoiled ballots.

He'll will square off against NDP incumbent Cheryl Hardcastle, the Conservatives Leo Demarce, the Green Party's Giovanni Abati, the People's Party Dan Burr and Laura Chesnik will represent the Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada

The federal election takes place on October 21st.
