LaSalle to Host Rendez-vous Voyageur Festival
A new festival is coming to the Town of LaSalle.
Rendez-vous Voyageur is a two-day event which will explore the 1600 & 1700's to commemorate the history of First Nations, Metis and French cultures.
French Voyageur educator Jay Bailey says it's important to showcase the town's rich history.
"It's not just about the French Canadian voyageurs, it's also about First Nations and just celebrating the roots of this area which go so deep," says Bailey.
He says the event will feature ancient lacrosse demonstrations along with drumming and a pow wow.
"We have all kinds of interactive activities that people are going to be engaging in," says Bailey. "They can try food and activities from the era and interact with voyageurs and the First Nations."
The events takes place September 20 and 21 at Gil Maure Park.
Bailey says to finish off the event, there will be a pyro musical fireworks show.
