2 New COVID-19 Case in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) is reporting two new local case of COVID-19.

Of the new cases, one is a close contact of a confirmed case and one is still being investigated.

There are now a total of two workplace outbreaks, one in the construction sector in Lakeshore and one in the agriculture sector in Kingsville.

The health unit is also making a correction to numbers reported on Tuesday when 10 new cases were reported.

Health Unit CEO Threresa Marentette says one of those cases was transferred to another region, changing Tuesday's increase to nine new cases and a current total of 2,743 cases.

Of those new cases, three are healthcare workers — two local and one who works in Michigan — two cases are close contact, two are community spread and two are still being investigated.

There are currently 64 active cases in Windsor-Essex with one person in the hospital.

Ontario is reporting 721 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday with  270 new cases in Toronto, 170 new cases in Peel and 79 in York Region.
