Baseball Legend Tom Seaver Dead at 75

New York Mets Hall of Famer Tom Seaver has died at the age of 75.

According to a statement from Major League Baseball, Seaver's family says he died Monday at his California home due to complications of Lewy body dementia and COVID-19.

Seaver won 311 games over the course of his 20-year career, 12 of which were spent with the Mets.

He was named to the All-Star Team 12 times, won the 1969 World Series with the Mets and was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992 on the first ballot by a 98.8 per cent margin.

At the time, that was the highest percentage of votes in favour of sending anyone to the hall by the Baseball Writers' Association of America.
