Matt Carpenter's sacrifice fly scored Marcell Ozuna in the second for the St. Louis run.

Cardinals' starter Adam Wainright tossed seven-and-two-thirds scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out eight.

Carlos Martinez yielded the three runs in the ninth to absorb the loss.

Game Four is Monday afternoon at Busch Stadium.
