Brief Foot Chase Leads to Fraud Arrest in Windsor

A Brampton man faces several charges after attempting to defraud a Windsor business.

Windsor Police Service was called to a business in the 2600 block of Lauzon Parkway Tuesday for a report of a fraud in progress.

Staff at the store told police the man was attempting to fraudulently obtain a financial loan.

When officers arrived they found a man meeting the description staff provided and attempted to place him under arrest.

The man struggled with police and fled the area on foot. He was later arrested without incident after a brief chase through a nearby field.

Police seized a number of financial documents that did not appear to belong to the suspect.

Members of the Windsor Police Service Financial Crimes Branch continue the investigation.

A 34-year-old man is facing 13 criminal charges, including, fraud over $5,000, utter forged documents, identity theft and resisting arrest.

Windsor police are reminding the community to keep an eye on your financial transaction records and report any suspicious activity.
