Budget Surplus For East End Pool
A budget surplus for the community pool at the WFCU Centre in Windsor's east-end.
The city has released its final report for the pool which shows a surplus of $29,000.
The $7.4 million facility opened at the WFCU Centre in July, 2016 and was used as a warm up pool for the FINA World Swimming Championships.
Ward One city councillor Fred Francis says it's always a positive when a project has a budget surplus. "When there's surplus dollars to a project and there's money left over that's an added bonus. So I think that's a good thing. I think those are two good indicators of a successful event."
Francis believes the pool is a good legacy project for the community. "When you look at it because of the FINA event, we're now able to have an east-end pool that people and residents on the east-end are able to enjoy. Something we never had before, the city of Windsor never had before, so it's really an added service and an added amenity for the results out on the east-end and for the entire city."
Francis says the surplus will more than likely go into reserves.
The facility includes a six-lane, 25-metre pool, a therapy pool and a splash pad.
