Bylaw in Works to Ban LED Strip Lighting
The ball is rolling on a plan to regulate LED strip lighting on commercial buildings in Windsor.
Council has directed administration to draft a bylaw to handle the new lighting trend that's been popping up at many local businesses.
Councillor Chris Holt brought the issue up after receiving several complaints from residents and says there's currently nothing on the books prohibiting the new technology.
According to the report, the lights are perceived to be too bright during nighttime hours and can be programed to strobe or chase, which can be distracting to drivers.
Holt says it's not clear yet when the bylaw will come back before council for further discussion.
