CAMPP to Discuss Next Steps After Appeal Dismissed

The group that launched the appeal of zoning for the proposed acute care hospital has released a statement.

Citizens for an Accountable Megahospital Planning Process (CAMPP) says the ruling by the planning tribunal isn't the end of the matter.

The Local Planning Appeal Tribunal dismissed the appeal, but CAMPP says the ruling raises more questions.

CAMPP's Lawyer Eric Gillespie says a lot of the decision is based on expert evidence.

"That evidence was never tested, there was never any cross examinations and we appreciate that, that maybe part of a process but at the same time, is that the way these decisions, should be made is that fair to the parties, many people would say a decision that's based on untested evidence may well not be reliable," says Gillespie.

He says CAMPP has some concerns with the ruling.

"I think it's fair to say there are going to be a number of questions that will need to be answered probably through some other process such as a review or at the Local Appeal Planning Tribunal or through the court system," says Gillespie.

In the detailed response CAMPP says the Tribunal ruling indicates the issues are more broad than what was raised during the hearing.

CAMPP has not made a decision, but indicates an appeal to the LPAT or through the courts will be visited.
