Colts' Hawerchuk to Take Leave of Absence

Dale Hawerchuk is taking a leave of absence as head coach of the Ontario Hockey League's Barrie Colts for the upcoming season.

The club announced Tuesday that Hawerchuk is making the move for unspecified health reasons.

He's the longest-serving coach in Colts' history and was going into his 10th season behind the team's bench.

Hawerchuck owns a 305-269-22-16 record dating back to the 2010-11 season, guiding the Colts to four Central Division titles along with an Eastern Conference championship in 2013.
