WINDSOR — An associate minister with the Ontario Conservative government celebrated International Women's Day in Essex.

Associate Minister of Children and Women's Issues Jill Dunlop took part in a roundtable discussion on Sunday at the Michigan Diner.

She tells AM800 news it's all about elevating women.

"I was speaking with a few of the different tables and talking about empowering women and girls," she says.  "We have been talking about trades, it is a great opportunity to get young women involved in that."

She says the message she will bring back to Queen's Park is that there is always more to be done.

"Empowering women so I'm talking about that today [Sunday] and celebrating amazing women across Ontario and across the world," says Dunlop.

Several rallies were held across Canada to mark the day and to protest against gender violence, inequality and exploitation.
