Firearm Discharged in Essex Incident

An Essex man has been charged after police say a man uttered threats to and pointed a firearm at a neighbour and fired the gun into the air.  

OPP were called to the scene around 8 p.m. on October 11 for reports of a disturbance on Tracey Crescent.

The area was contained by police and K-9 Unit and neighbours in the area were evacuated.

 According to police, the suspect was seen exiting and re-entering his home numerous times and was eventually engaged by police and taken into custody.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital for the treatment of a minor dog bite wound obtained during the arrest.

A 58-year-old man is charged with uttering threats to cause bodily harm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, among other things.
