Flyers Look to Extend a Six-Game Winning Streak
The red-hot Leamington Flyers look to extend a six-game winning streak when they take the ice Thursday night.
The Flyers host the St. Mary's Lincolns in Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League action.
The Flyers have outscored their opponents 30-to-11 during their winning streak.
Leamington forward Dylan Weston says they need to keep it simple to earn another two points.
"We got to play good defence and play tough. We're a better team when we try to play tough, finish our hits and definitely got to be good on the back end," says Weston. Make sure we're going back strong and focus on defence first."
It's the second meeting of the season between the two clubs, with Leamington winning the first meeting on the road, 1-0 in double overtime.
Weston says St. Mary's is a hard working, tough, aggressive team.
He leads the Flyers in scoring with 12 goals and 24 points in 16 games but says his focus is always on the team.
"I don't really look at it too much, I don't let it worry me," says Weston. "I'd rather get two points for the team than me get four points, I'd whether me get zero points and the team gets two points. I'm a team player, I'm not about getting all points and stuff like that."
The Lincolns are coming off a 4-3 win over Chatham last Friday.
Game time is set for 7:10pm at the Kinsmen Recreation Complex.
