A familiar face has been hired in the Town of Kingsville.

John Quennell is the new deputy fire chief effective immediately.

The town says the temporary appointment includes leadership and oversite at a time when both current Fire Chief Chuck Parsons and Deputy Chief Jeff Dean are on indefinite leaves of absence.

The pair were placed on leave in September for reasons that are being kept confidential as they are personnel matters.

Quennell was most recently the deputy fire chief in Lakeshore and retired as assistant chief in Windsor where he was a firefighter from 1978 to 2010.

"We’re pleased to have Chief Quennell join our municipality and provide leadership during this time," said Kingsville Mayor Nelson Santos. "The residents and businesses of Kingsville can rest assured that the Fire Department continues to provide high quality fire and rescue services and will continue to do so as they are called upon in the time of need."

Quennell will report to the Chief Administrative Officer.
