Kingsville Names New Chief Administrative Officer

The Town of Kingsville has a new Chief Administrative Officer to guide it into the future, according to Mayor Nelson Santos.

Santos announced the hiring of new CAO John Norton Wednesday and says he bring more than a decade of municipal planning experience with him.

Norton was most recently the CAO of the Township of Georgian Bluffs, but Santos says he held a number of positions with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent over the past nine years.

Santos says his experience as working on community development set him apart from the short list of 10 candidates.

"Being part of recovery through these tough economic times and have a growth strategy he's helped implement as part of a team, so we're happy to welcome John to our team here to continue on with his progressive ways," he says.

Santos says Norton is already getting the lay of the land at town hall.

"We'll kind of introduce him to all of our programs and services that we have on the go at the moment and continue on with the planning pieces for the future of the municipality as a whole," added Santos.

Norton is expected to hit the ground running, according to Santos.

"The learning curve shouldn't take too long. It's just getting to the priorities and establishing the focuses of our strategic plan and strategy of the municipality as a whole." he says.

Norton holds a Law Degree from the University of Western Ontario, a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management from Trinity College, and a Bachelor of Arts from Taylor University College/ University of Alberta.

He practiced municipal law at a private practice before entering public service.

Norton's first day with the town will be Tuesday, Sept. 8
