A unique way to present pumpkins has won some national recognition for the town of Kingsville.

Kingsville is the winner in a "Communities in Bloom" competition, receiving '5 Blooms-Bronze rating' for communities with a population of 7,500 to 25,000.

It won for its Pumpkin Parade and received a special mention at a ceremony in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

On November 1st, 2018, the town asked residents to bring their jack-o-lanterns to Lakeside Park for the first ever pumpkin parade.

The pumpkins were set up along a path and provided a battery operated tea light.

After the parade, the pumpkins were donated to a local farm for use for animal feed.

The Communities in Bloom judges noted the program was a win-win because it helped farmers and eliminated any smashed pumpkins on streets.
