LaSalle Moving Forward with Work on Front Rd.
The Town of LaSalle is moving ahead with watermain work on Front Rd.
The $3-million project will see the installation of a new watermain along a 4.5-kilometre stretch of Front Rd. from Gary Ave. to Malden Rd.
Manager of Engineering, Jonathan Osborne says the town received nine bids for the project with J.J. Lepera Infrastructures coming in with the lowest bid for the work.
"It's the replacement of an existing watermain," says Osborne. "They'll be utilizing one lane of traffic to do the work so traffic will remain open one lane in each direction on Front Rd. It should take about six months to do the work."
He says the current watermain is in poor condition.
"We experience a number of breaks on that watermain due to the age of the watermain, the type of soil so it's a good time to replace it," says Osborne.
Construction is expected to start later this year but an exact date has not been determined.
