In a release, the board says "we understand and respect that OECTA is in a legal strike position, and we appreciate that this job action may cause an inconvenience for students and their families."
The statements goes on to say "we would ask that our students and their families remain patient as the collective bargaining process unfolds and we hope that a resolution that satisfies the needs of all parties can be found soon."
The one-day strike is set for Tuesday, January 21st.
There are 1,800 English Catholic teachers in Windsor-Essex while the union represents 45,000 members across the province.
OECTA members held a province-wide strike vote in November, where members voted 97.1% in favour of strike action if needed.
