Local Salvation Army Launches Delivery Service
The Salvation Army in Windsor is now offering delivery to those in need.
Executive Director Major Paul Ridout says the service is available five days a week for those who cannot access the curb side food bank during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We can do three to four maybe even five drop offs a day depending on location," says Ridout. "We're willing to provide that for the LaSalle, Windsor, Tecumseh area and even beyond that we'll figure out away to get food to people."
He believes there will be a demand for the service.
"Right now the demand is not there quite yet to say that we need more help at this point but we certainly will keep the public aware should this need grow and we need other people to help us with deliveries," says Ridout.
Pre-packaged donations will be given to those needing assistance and Ridout is hoping residents don't wait until the last minute to make a delivery request.
"We're asking people that might need this service, if you're looking in your cupboards and you can anticipate three to four days out, I'm going to some need support, call us then, don't wait until your cupboards are empty."
Delivery service runs Monday to Friday and is available for residents living in Windsor, LaSalle and Tecumseh.
