A new rideshare option in Windsor.

Lyft has opened the passenger door and launched its service in Windsor, which officials say will bring reliable rides to the area.

Lyft was founded in 2012, and expanded into Canada in 2017 by offering service in Toronto.

It later launched in Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary, and Edmonton and has since provided more than 68 million rides to more than 2.5 million Canadians.

To try and entice new users they're offering a special launch code, CA25OFF3, where riders get 25% off their first three rides in their first 14 days.

Jody Kellman, EVP of Customers at Lyft, says they see their purpose as bringing people together.

"We are extending that to even more places as we begin serving Windsor, Niagara, London and Kitchener-Waterloo. That means a flexible way for drivers to earn good money while helping their riders to easily connect with friends, co-workers, or get to the airport to see far-away family."

The company launched the rideshare service in London and Kitchener-Waterloo earlier in November.
