Ontario Premier Doug Ford says he will be extending his emergency declaration for another two weeks after the order expires on Tuesday.

Ford made the comments at Queen’s Park on Monday during his daily update on the province’s response to COVID-19.

While Ford expressed concern over instances of people not practicing social distancing, he said he is not currently in a position to force people to stay indoors.

“I need the advice from our medical professionals,” he said, adding that he “won’t hesitate to pull the trigger” on that recommendation when and if it is provided.

Ford said moving forward, the province would be assessing the order on a two-week basis.
