The Cavs ended a five-game losing streak to run their record to 11-and-27.
Andre Drummond delivered 28 points and 23 rebounds for Detroit, which has alternated wins and losses over its last five games.
Derrick Rose added 27 points off the pine as the Pistons fell to 14-and-25.
The Pistons continue a three-game homestand against the Chicago Bulls tomorrow night.
