VIDEO: Windsor Police Make Arrest in City's Latest Homicide
An arrest has been made in the city's fifth homicide of the year.
Police have charged 19-year-old Mustafa Al-Qaysi of Windsor with first degree murder.
Investigators with the Major Crimes Branch believe two suspects were involved in the attack and fled in a getaway car.
The vehicle was spotted on Sunday in the area of Wyandotte St e. and Marentette Ave. and according to police, Al-Qaysi was the driver.
"There was a suspect vehicle that fled the area after the attack and it's unknown the number of occupants inside that were inside that vehicle," says Windsor Police Constable Talya Natyshak.
While police have not released the name of the victim, family and friends have identified him as 20-year-old Justin Greenwood.
Constable Natyshak says investigators continue to look for more suspects involved in the attack.
"We are continuing to investigate and we can confirm that, that one person is in custody and that, that photo that has been released is of the two suspects believed to be in the physical attack," says Natyshak.
She says investigators do not believe that the attack was a random act.
"We are looking for any information in regards to that surveillance video footage that has been released which is showing two suspects believed to be involved in the physical attack of the victim," says Natyshak.
As heard on AM800 news, officers were called to Tecumseh Rd W. near McKay Ave Saturday afternoon, where they found a man suffering from stab wounds.
The man was taken to hospital but later died of his injuries.
Anyone with information is asked to call Windsor police or Crime Stoppers.
