Provincial Supervisor Appointed at Brentwood Recovery Home in Windsor
A provincially-appointed supervisor has taken over the role of the Board of Directors at the Brentwood Recovery Home in Windsor.
Mark Walton of Brampton has stepped in following an operational review of the organization in late 2019 and 2020.
Walton says his role will be to address issues in the organization.
"It is really intended to fast track, getting resolution around some of those core issues, so that ultimately the organization can be passed back to the community and set on its way," he says.
The review found issues regarding governance, organizational culture and how the organization resolves patient or family complaints and concerns.
As a result, the Erie-St. Clair Local Health Integration Network appointed Walton, effective as of March 2, 2020.
Walton says Brentwood remains a strong organization in the community.
"Number one, there is no plan to close Brentwood. So that is a really important part of them, so they need to know that Brentwood, our intention is for Brentwood to be here for a very long time," he says. "Secondly, for the staff and the clients that are served by Brentwood, we are saying it is business as usual."
Client care will not be affected at this time and Brentwood will continue to accept new referrals.
Walton says Brentwood has a great support base in the community.
"On so many levels what I have been conveying to the staff, to the alumni and to the clients, is that the only thing that is changing is that I'm here to help and to serve, and to take care some of those issues that were identified before," he says.
He adds that there are no financial concerns whatsoever in the organization.
Walton expects to be at Brentwood for 4-6 months and afterwards, the intention is to pass the organization back to a "reconstituted board of directors to make sure the organization is in good hands."
The Brentwood Recovery Home, located at 2335 Dougall Ave., provides residential treatment for those battling drug and alcohol addiction.
