Ship Blocking Kingsville Harbour Causes Issues for Pelee Island Ferry
A ship destined for a stone dock in Kingsville, Ont. delayed ferry services to Pelee Island for nearly eight hours Saturday.
Pelee Island Ferry Service shares Kingsville Harbour with Southwestern Sales Corporation Limited, which deals in aggregate distribution, at the foot of Park Street and Dock Road.
The entrance to the harbour was blocked by the vessel at around 10 a.m. Saturday, according to tweets from Pelee Island Transportation.
No explanation as to how the ship came to block the harbour was provided, but the service tweeted it had finally been cleared just before 6 p.m.
Operations had to be shifted to the MV Pelee Islander out of Leamington, Ont. all afternoon.
The Pelee Islander II will resume regular service out of Kingsville, Ont. Sunday morning.
