Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.

According to the statement, scattered thunderstorms over lower-Michigan will track southeast across portions of both regions Monday night.

Those storms could bring frequent lightning, heavy downpours and wind gusts up to 80 km/h.

Environment Canada says the weather system is expected to make its way out of the area by 8pm.
