Spitfires Snap Losing Streak with OT Win in Sarnia

Windsor stopped the bleeding, ending a four game losing streak with a 5-4 overtime win over the Sting in Sarnia Friday.

Tyler Angle had a goal and two assists and Connor Corcoran scored twice to pace the Spitfires.

Cole Purboo scored with just over three minutes left in the third period to tie the game 4-4 and Curtis Douglas netted the game winner just a minute into the extra frame to secure the 5-4 win.

Xavier Medina left the game with an injury in the third period after Sarnia's Jamison Rees scored on a breakaway before crashed into the rookie netminder.  

Sean Josling, Ryan Roth and Brayden Guy also scored for the Sting.

Medina stopped 26 of 28 shots and Kari Piiroinen stopped seven of the nine he faced in relief.

Benjamin Gaudreau stopped 60 of 65 shots in a losing effort for the Sting.

Windsor (29-14-5-0-63) is in fourth place in the OHL's Western Conference.

The Spitfires host Sarnia in a rubber match at the WFCU Centre Saturday at 7:05pm.
