Step Forward For Riverside Vista Project
Windsor City council is signing off on a $6.3-million contract, part of a major five-phase reimagining of Riverside Dr.
Amico Infrastructures Inc. is being hired on for work on the first phase of the Riverside Drive Vista Improvement Project.
Part of the work will include new separated and larger sewers as well as barrier curbs to help prevent water pooling on front yards.
The first phase covers the stretch of road from Riverdale Dr. to Lauzon Rd.
Mayor Drew Dilkens knows construction will be a pain, but feels residents will see the bigger picture. "You know this is a big project. You imagine east to west in the entire city of Windsor doing the Riverside Vista project, this is going to take some time to complete. It'll be a little hassle like any construction project, but the hassle will be worth it at the end of the day."
The work is all part of the city's efforts to fight back against flooding," says Dilkens. "It's a big dollar amount. We're moving forward. Riverside Vista is important to us. It was something that was identified in the 8-point plan and it's something that's been on the council books for probably, almost 12 years."
The first phase of construction east of Lauzon Rd. is set to begin this year.
