Structural issues have delayed efforts to clean-up a gasoline leak in Kingsville.

Homes in the area of County Road 20 and County Road 23 have been evacuated since Sunday when a gasoline leak was discovered at a nearby gas station.

A partial state of emergency also remains in effect.

Officials say crews began to drain the gasoline outside the building Thursday morning, but had to stop due to a compromised foundation.

Work to stabilize the structure was completed Thursday afternoon and the clean-up will resume Friday morning after the concrete is able to cure.

According to the release, the Kingsville Fire Department, OPP and the Windsor Fire and Rescue Service HAZMAT team continue to assure surrounding properties are secure.

Roads surrounding the site remain closed until further notice.
